Ana Lucía
Maya Aguirre

Ana Lucía is the Director of the Observatory for Marine and Coastal Governance / Center for Social and Environmental Studies in Colombia. She is a lawyer and specialist in constitutional law at the National University of Colombia.

Charline Guillou

Charline is in charge of the communication of the Ocean University Initiative. Specialized in matters of communication related to the marine environment, she appreciates particularly to work on the interface between science and policy with the aim of promoting more sustainable maritime activities. 

Ibukun Adewumi

Ibukun Adewumi is the director international partnership at the African Marine Environment Sustainability Initiative, Lagos, Nigeria, and the West Africa liaison officer for the World Ocean Council. He has over a decade of interdisciplinary research and professional experience on integrated ocean management, blue economy ocean governance, and climate change adaptation on a local, regional and global scale. Ibukun holds an Erasmus Mundus joint MSc in maritime spatial planning from the Universities of Venice, Seville, and the Azores. He is currently a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change/Nairobi Work Programme Expert Group on the Ocean. 

Luisa Sarmiento

Luisa is a Master student of Sustainability in Kiel (Germany). She has a background in Environmental Biology with a wildlife specialization (Montreal, Canada). She has worked in environmental research, but also in waste management and knowledge transfer of indigenous communities.

Yuna Sellami

Yuna is an undergraduate student in Economics and Management who aims to specialize in Environmental Policy. Currently, in a gap year, she is a volunteer at the NGO In The Same Boat in Norway, which fights against ocean plastic pollution through beach cleaning and the organization of events with local communities to spread awareness.

Anna Zivian

Anna is Senior Research Fellow at Ocean Conservancy, focusing on ocean climate change as well as equity and justice. Anna is also co-chair of the Ocean Knowledge-Action Network. This work includes supporting efforts to make ocean work more accessible while reducing emissions. Before earning her PhD in Environmental Studies, Anna served as an elected official in Colorado for ten years.

Denis Bailly

Denis is a lecturer in economics at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale; he is specialized in the fields of resource management and the marine environment. He’s the coordinator of the Ocean University Initiative which aims to create the conditions for the establishment of a United Nations University institute dedicated to the ocean and coasts, and with the means of carrying out prefiguration actions in three fields: research, training and communication.

Julia Jung

Julia is a marine social scientist currently working with the Cobra Collective to develop online capacity building tools to promote community owned solutions. Her research focuses on community engagement using action research, systems thinking and participatory visual approaches to empower marginalised communities. She is interested in the connection between people and the ocean for health and well-being and in the use of technology and digital tools for learning and engagement.

Bleuenn Guilloux

Bleuenn is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Brest, and she’s part of the Ocean University Initiative. Based on an interdisciplinary approach, she explores how to improve existing international ocean and climate legal frameworks.

Michal Lovecky

Michal is a creative XR technologist, founder, and CEO of Cyan Planet, building an immersive media platform to reconnect people with the ocean and spark action for marine conservation. He has delivered over 60 immersive media projects, such as the first-ever 8K VR live streaming over a 5G network and 360° coral reef monitoring. He was awarded by Deloitte for high standards in innovation.  

Soeren Thomsen

Soeren is a CNRS PostDoc at LOCEAN/IPSL in Paris. For his interdisciplinary research he carries out observations and performs numerical model simulations focusing on the Peruvian and West African upwelling system. He founded the EBUS Webinar project in 2018 and is a strong advocate for inclusive and sustainable international collaboration on the ocean.
